The Village Treasurer and Finance
The Village Treasurer is appointed by the Mayor with trustee approval. The Treasurer provides for the processing of all financial data in a timely manner. This allows the Village Board to monitor budgetary requirements, invest funds, and to comply with all local, state and federal laws.
Financial transparency promotes accountability and provides information to the citizens of the Village about what their local government is doing. Residents can stay informed and learn about local government revenue, spending and debt. The Village makes financial information transparent and accessible.
The Village Treasurer's responsibilities vary. Some of the duties are:
- monthly preparation of financial reporting to the Board.
- record keeping of bank and investment accounts.
- assist external auditor with the annual audit preparation.
- submit financial reports to state and federal agencies.
- payroll and tax reporting to state and federal government.
